The Safe Kids Weber-Morgan Coalition to Host Safe Kids Day Event to Help Families Avoid Preventable Injuries
Ogden, Utah - April 07, 2010 -
The Safe Kids Weber-Morgan Coalition is helping to prevent accidental death and injury by educating parents and children at the 11th annual
Safe Kids Day. The event will take place at the Weber County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall (1000 N. 1200 W. in Ogden.) on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. The free fair will include educational, but fun booths and activities. Organizers will give away 200 bicycle helmets, carbon monoxide
detectors and many other great prizes.
Ogden Clinic, Intermountain North Ogden Clinic, the Safe Kids Weber-Morgan Safe Communities Coalition and Utah Safe Communities are sponsoring the
event that will teach children how to stay safe. Topics covered during the event include stranger danger, "Spot the Tot," and sport and bike safety.
This year's Safe Kids Day theme is sports safety.
"Safe Kids Day is an important event for families to initiate important safety discussions. It will be a day full of enjoyable activities while
learning important life-saving skills," said Gordon Bradberry, director of marketing at Ogden Clinic.
Special guests Princess Amerah, McGruff the Crime Dog and the Star Wars characters will be on site to interact, entertain and take pictures with
attendees. More than 100 local businesses and government agencies will participate with vendor booths. Activities such as a bike rodeo (a clinic that
helps teach children the importance of riding a bicycle safely,) child I.D. station making kits, a petting farm, bounce slide and obstacle course, face
painting, magicians, the reptile show "Scales and Tails," craft vendors and more will take place through out the day.
Local policemen, firemen, k-9 units and emergency response units will be on hand to answer questions and display their vehicles. Guests can explore
antique and modern fire trucks, a Life Flight helicopter and police cars. Helicopter rides will be provided by Whirlybird Helicopters for $35.
