Education and Background
Marilyn received her RN from Weber State University and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah. After working for over twenty years as a nurse in labor and delivery, NICU, and women’s health leadership positions she returned to the University of Utah where she received a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner. While attending the U, she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and was given the “Outstanding Master’s Student” award upon graduation.
Soon after joining Ogden Clinic, Marilyn returned to the University of Utah once more, this time for a doctorate in nursing. She was a member of the first graduating class of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
During the time she studied for her doctorate, Marilyn nursed her husband through a life threatening illness involving months of hospitalization and a number of surgeries. Having spent all of her adult life working in healthcare, this ordeal taught her a new perspective about the importance of caring for patients in a humanistic, compassionate manner. For her dissertation, she wrote a book about quality of care and patient satisfaction, which is a subject she feels passionate about and daily strives to incorporate into her interactions with her patients.
Marilyn lives in Layton with her four children and enjoys spending time with her family.
