Education and Background
Amy Cain has a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from Bastyr University, just outside Seattle, Washington. As one of the world's leading academic institutions for natural health sciences, Bastyr helped foster Amy's emphasis on whole foods and a natural health viewpoint in her nutrition counseling. Amy later completed her Master's degree and dietetic internship at the University of Utah. Her Master's research on the relationship between macular degeneration and fish oil was recently published in the Archives of Ophthalmology.
Amy feels that what we eat directly impacts our health three times a day. Her caring attitude, creativity, and individualized counseling teach patients practical ways to make lifestyle changes. Hands-on approaches such as whole food nutrition and cooking classes, grocery shopping excursions, and designing a healthy pantry are also available.
Amy's hobbies include hanging out with her two girls, cooking wholesome foods, and any outdoor adventure. Her favorite outdoor adventures include snow: snowshoeing, snowboarding, telemark skiing, or even shoveling snow. In the summer she enjoys swimming and hiking. She is also a year-round 'Power Yoga' enthusiast.
