Why should I protect my ears?
The majority of Otolaryngologists and Hearing Health Care Professionals in the U.S. believe that patients who have had tympanostomy with tubes should wear ear protection to reduce the risk of water entering the ear when swimming, bathing, and showering. Water in the ear canal and/or middle ear can cause infection.
How can I protect my ears?
Your ears can be protected by wearing ear plugs. Our Audiology Department here in the Ogden Clinic dispenses a variety of ear plugs. Our audiologists are available to consult with you on the type of ear plug that would be best for your needs.
The Audiology Department works closely with John R. Siddoway, M.D. and Nadim Bikhazi, M.D., the Otolaryngologists (ENT physicians) in the clinic.
Types of Earplugs
There are many different kinds of ear plugs to choose from. The type or style of ear plug recommended is dependent on the age of the user and the activity in which they will be wearing them.
We also dispense custom ear products for noise protection, musician’s plugs, personal stereos, and cellular or cordless phones. If you would like to hear more about any of these products, please give us a call at (801) 476-2213.
