Amy's Nutrition Picks: Homemade Hot Chocolate

Make your own hot chocolate and avoid the hydrogenated oils and other additives found in almost all commercial hot chocolate mixes. The best part is there's no chemical taste!

Heat 1 mug (about 12 oz) of milk in microwave for 2 minutes.

Add:

  • 2 teaspoons Hershey's Cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar*
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • A pinch of salt. (optional)

Stir well. Adjust cocoa and sugar to match your tastes. If cocoa gets lumpy, mix it with sugar first and slowly add milk, stirring constantly. For an extra rich treat, use whole milk!
