Behavioral Health & Therapy

Primary care: It’s a starting place for every other healthcare concern. Our primary care providers (also called PCPs) make up the largest specialty here at Ogden Clinic called Family Medicine. They handle everything from routine blood work to chronic conditions to sudden health problems. But in treating the whole you, one aspect of primary care was missing at Ogden Clinic—mental healthcare. That’s why Ogden Clinic is proud to announce a new partnership with evolvedMD to bring mental health into the continuum of primary care.

What is evolvedMD?

evolvedMD is an integration of behavioral health services in modern primary care. They are now part of our Family Medicine specialty, meaning that our PCPs refer patients in need to evolveMD’s licensed Behavioral Health Managers—who also work onsite at our same Family Medicine clinics.

Together, we use an upfront and ongoing approach. Your PCP stays in the loop about your mental health assessments and medication regimen (if prescribed), and your Behavioral Health Specialist coordinates with your PCP to provide mind-and-body integrated healthcare.

I’m in need of mental health counseling. How do I get started?

Our behavioral health model begins with your primary care provider. If you have not yet established care with a family medicine provider, that is the perfect starting place. Your PCP will coordinate with our in-house EvolvedMD providers to set up a behavioral health assessment and ongoing visits for your situation. Common reasons that patients are referred to EvolvedMD are:

  • Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias
  • Depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Psychotic disorders including schizophrenia

Does my insurance cover behavioral health sessions?

The cost of services is similar to a typical doctor visit with your insurance. For example, if you normally pay a $35 copay each time you see your PCP, you will pay the same copay each time you see a Behavioral Health Manager. Of course, we advise you to contact your insurance carrier and/or evolvedMD for payment details ahead of time.

What are others saying about the PCP/behavioral health integration at Ogden Clinic?

Ogden Clinic's Chief Operating Officer T Jay Frazier says “The response has been overwhelmingly positive. This collaborative approach challenges the old way of sending referrals out and often times wondering what happened to the patient."

He adds, "With this partnership, the PCP is involved through the entire process and has daily interactions with the Behavioral Health Manager (BMH) since they now work in the same practice. The patients feel supported by the gentle ‘handoff’ from primary care provider to BHM; this creates continuity of care, which is a win/win for patients and providers.”

Schedule an appointment with your PCP to receive a
behavioral health assessment and enroll in our integrated care program with evolvedMD.
