Procedures / Treatments

  • Colposcopy A magnified inspection and diagnostic procedure that examines the cervix and the tissues of the vagina and vulva. The diagnostic procedure evaluates potentially cancerous areas, usually after a pap smear has identified abnormal cells on the cervix.
  • Contraception Contraception or birth control is a method or device used to prevent pregnancy. These methods include IUD, Nexplanon, birth control pills, vaginal rings or injections.
  • Endometrial Ablation An endometrial ablation is an outpatient procedure performed by a specially trained surgeon used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding by destroying (ablating) the lining of the uterus.
  • Endometriosis A procedure used to diagnose and remove mild to moderate endometriosis. A thin scope with a camera on the end is passed through a small abdominal incision. A additional incisions are made on the lower abdomen to provide an additional opening for surgical instruments. Surgeons can view the outside of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and nearby organs. The endometriosis can then be removed using the instruments.
  • Fibroid Removal (Myomectomy) A minimally invasive outpatient surgery which is performed by a thin scope being inserted through the navel (via five small incisions) to view the pelvic and abdominal organs to locate and remove fibroid tumors. Once the procedure is complete, the incision will be closed with stitches. Benefits of a minimally invasive myomectomy include a same day procedure and a quicker recovery with smaller scars.
  • IUD An IUD, also known as an intrauterine contraceptive device, is inserted via the vaginal canal into the uterus to prevent conception.
  • Laborist Program Ogden Clinic has partnered with both McKay Dee Hospital and Ogden Regional Medical Center to develop and implement Laborist programs. Our patients are ensured access to physician coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Because Ogden Clinic has contracts with nearly all insurance plans, all of our physicians deliver at both McKay Dee Hospital and Ogden Regional Medical Center.
  • Laparoscopic Hysterectomy A Laproscopic Hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove the uterus. The surgery is performed in Ogden through small abdominal incisions using a thin scope with a camera on the end. Benefits of a minimally invasive laproscopic hysterectomy include less pain, a shorter hospital stay, quicker recovery time, and less scarring. Variations of the procedure may include the removal of the cervix, fallopian tubes and ovaries.
  • Laparoscopic Surgery Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, is a specialized technique for performing surgery using a laparoscope (camera and instruments) through a few small incisions.
  • LEEP Also known as the loop electrosurgical excision procedure, uses a heated wire loop by a low-voltage electrical current to remove abnormal cervical tissue to prevent cervical cancer.
  • Menopause Management Each woman requires individual attention before, during, and after menopause. Ogden Clinic offers natural and complementary therapy and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause management.
  • Nexplanon® Also known as Implanon NXT is medication used to prevent pregnancy (long acting & reversible) by inserting a thin, small plastic rod filled with medication under the skin.
  • NovaSure® Novasure is an endometrial ablation procedure that provides a solution to heavy periods (may reduce or stop bleeding altogether).
  • Obstetric Care Comprehensive and compassionate prenatal care. Ultrasound imaging is utilized at each appointment.
  • Prolapse Surgery Surgical procedures used to restore or support vaginal wall prolapse or relaxation. A prolapsed bladder is a cystocele. A prolapsed rectum is a rectocele.
  • Prostate Ultrasound and Biopsy A procedure to evaluate abnormal results of a digital rectal exam or an elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test. A prostate ultrasound involves a probe about the size of a finger that is inserted a short distance into the rectum. The probe produces harmless high-frequency sound waves that are recorded and transformed into images of the prostate gland to visualize the prostate. The ultrasound imaging is used to guide a small biopsy needle into the prostate. The needle removes small amounts of tissue to be analyzed. Results of the procedure will assist physicians in diagnosing prostate disorders and diseases.
  • Robotic Gynecologic Surgery da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical platform that translates a specially trained surgeon's hand movements into precise micro movements and offers a progressive, minimally invasive option for major surgery.
  • Sterilization Sterilization is a minimally invasive surgery for women who no longer wish to have children, performed through tubal litigation. Tubal litigation is performed laparoscopically to promote a quicker, smoother recovery.
