Procedures / Treatments

  • Colposcopy A magnified inspection and diagnostic procedure that examines the cervix and the tissues of the vagina and vulva. The diagnostic procedure evaluates potentially cancerous areas, usually after a pap smear has identified abnormal cells on the cervix.
  • Contraception Contraception or birth control is a method or device used to prevent pregnancy. These methods include IUD, Nexplanon, birth control pills, vaginal rings or injections.
  • Fibroid Removal (Myomectomy) A minimally invasive outpatient surgery which is performed by a thin scope being inserted through the navel (via five small incisions) to view the pelvic and abdominal organs to locate and remove fibroid tumors. Once the procedure is complete, the incision will be closed with stitches. Benefits of a minimally invasive myomectomy include a same day procedure and a quicker recovery with smaller scars.
  • IUD An IUD, also known as an intrauterine contraceptive device, is inserted via the vaginal canal into the uterus to prevent conception.
  • Laparoscopic Hysterectomy A Laproscopic Hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove the uterus. The surgery is performed in Ogden through small abdominal incisions using a thin scope with a camera on the end. Benefits of a minimally invasive laproscopic hysterectomy include less pain, a shorter hospital stay, quicker recovery time, and less scarring. Variations of the procedure may include the removal of the cervix, fallopian tubes and ovaries.
  • Menopause Management Each woman requires individual attention before, during, and after menopause. Ogden Clinic offers natural and complementary therapy and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause management.
  • Nexplanon® Also known as Implanon NXT is medication used to prevent pregnancy (long acting & reversible) by inserting a thin, small plastic rod filled with medication under the skin.
  • NovaSure® Novasure is an endometrial ablation procedure that provides a solution to heavy periods (may reduce or stop bleeding altogether).
  • Prolapse Surgery Surgical procedures used to restore or support vaginal wall prolapse or relaxation. A prolapsed bladder is a cystocele. A prolapsed rectum is a rectocele.
  • Prostate Ultrasound and Biopsy A procedure to evaluate abnormal results of a digital rectal exam or an elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test. A prostate ultrasound involves a probe about the size of a finger that is inserted a short distance into the rectum. The probe produces harmless high-frequency sound waves that are recorded and transformed into images of the prostate gland to visualize the prostate. The ultrasound imaging is used to guide a small biopsy needle into the prostate. The needle removes small amounts of tissue to be analyzed. Results of the procedure will assist physicians in diagnosing prostate disorders and diseases.
  • Robotic Gynecologic Surgery da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical platform that translates a specially trained surgeon's hand movements into precise micro movements and offers a progressive, minimally invasive option for major surgery.
  • Tubal Ligation Sterilization is a minimally invasive surgery for women who no longer wish to have children, by removal of the fallopian tubes. Tubal ligation (removal) is performed laparoscopically to promote a quicker, smoother recovery.
  • Women’s Health and Wellness Women’s healthcare addresses conditions that affect a woman’s physical and emotional well-being. This includes:
    • Preventive care: Pap smears, breast and pelvic exams
    • Sexual health: Family planning, and reproductive exams, screenings and treatments
    • Heavy or irregular periods
    • Treatment of yeast infections, urinary tract infections, and other gynecological issues
