Every October, pink ribbons remind us to schedule mammograms and talk about prevention. But what about those who’ve already heard the words “you have breast cancer”?
Breast Cancer Awareness goes beyond prevention here at Ogden Clinic. We have the tools and specialists who walk with patients through every phase: Diagnosis to treatment to healing. Chelsea Nizet NP-C and Leigh Jarman NP-C are Breast Care Coordinators who help patients navigate their treatment every week. Here’s what that looks like.
The Breast Care Coordinator Program
“When a woman receives a breast cancer diagnosis, it can be an incredibly overwhelming moment,” says Chelsea Nizet. “We sit down with each patient, go over their results, and walk them through every next step, so they’re never navigating it alone.”
Our Breast Care Coordination Program bridges the gap between diagnosis and treatment. Once a biopsy confirms breast cancer, the coordinator personally delivers results, helps schedule appointments, and connects patients with the specialists they need.
“We know that when you first hear a cancer diagnosis, everything else can blur together,” she explains. “We’re here to help you stay organized and ready—with folders, checklists, and guidance every step of the way.”
Leigh Jarman adds, "I tell my patients that we have the best team. I've trusted our surgeons with the lives of my family members and they've performed surgery on me, too. If anyone in my family ever needs care from a general surgeon, I would pick ours every single time."
New Resource: Breast Prosthetics and Garment Fittings
The Breast Care Coordinators have a new service for mastectomy and partial-mastectomy patients: Professional fittings for breast prosthetics and post-surgical bras. For women who choose not to undergo reconstruction, these fittings are a meaningful way to restore comfort and confidence.
“There used to be a store in Northern Utah that offered these fittings, but it closed,” Chelsea says. “Now we’re filling that gap. Patients can try on different options and order what they need, all inside the same clinic where they’re receiving care."
Ogden Clinic is currently the only provider in Northern Utah offering in-office breast prosthetic fittings, making this service both accessible and deeply personal.
“I’m Your Advocate”
Breast cancer is not just medical care for our coordinators, it’s a relationship.
“The most rewarding part of my job is being a support for women who are going through such a scary, life-changing time,” she says. “Sometimes I’m their advocate, sometimes I’m a shoulder to cry on, but always, I’m in their corner,” Chelsea says.
Leigh adds "My grandmother died of breast cancer when I was very young. I always try to treat my patients with breast cancer and their families with the care that I would want my grandmother to have received."
At Ogden Clinic, we’re proud to provide more than just advanced medical treatment; we give compassion, connection, and complete care for every woman facing breast cancer. Because no one should have to walk this journey alone.
