Procedure - miraDry®

Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which patients sweat excessively, to the point where the sweating disrupts normal activities and results in anxiety and embarrassment. While everyone sweats to some degree during warm weather or exercise, people with hyperhidrosis experience sudden onsets of increased sweating, social withdrawal, and night sweats. This is why Ogden Clinic in Utah offers miraDry® as a treatment option for hyperhidrosis.

How Does miraDry® Work?

miraDry® is a targeted treatment for excessive sweating of the underarms. This system uses energy to destroy the sweat and odor glands in the underarm to prevent excessive sweating, reduce odor, and increase confidence in patients with hyperhidrosis.

First, your doctor will mark a targeted treatment template under your arm and numb the area before beginning the procedure. Next, he/she will place the miraDry® handpiece directly onto the skin, lining up with the temporary template marked on the skin.

The handpiece is then activated and you will experience a slight pull as your skin and glands are suctioned to the surface for maximum results. The miraWave energy is then delivered till the sweat and odor glands are destroyed. At the same time, cooling is applied to protect the skin of heat damage or discomfort. Once the glands are destroyed they cannot grow back.

The Benefits of miraDry®

The miraDry® treatment is performed right in your Ogden Clinic doctor’s office and usually takes about an hour. The doctor will use a local anesthetic to minimize any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Most people are able to return to work immediately following the procedure, and can resume exercise or physically demanding activities within a few days. Aside from over-the-counter pain medication and ice packs to aid in healing and reduce swelling, there is no additional treatment needed. The side effects of miraDry® are minor and include some redness, swelling, and tenderness.

If you feel uncomfortable participating in social activities because of your excessive underarm sweating and hyperhidrosis, then come to Ogden Clinic in Utah for the innovative and non-invasive miraDry® treatment.
