Nephrology is the medical specialty that deals with kidney disease. Your
two kidneys are designed to perform complex jobs within your body, like
removing toxins and controlling the body’s balance of fluids, electrolytes,
and blood pressure. Kidneys are also integral to maintaining bone health
because they control vitamin D metabolism and calcium balance. Additionally,
they are essential to the production of red blood cells by the bone marrow
through the production of the hormone erythropoietin.
Unfortunately, many diseases can affect the kidneys and cause problems
for the rest of the body. Diseases that harm the kidneys include diabetes,
lupus, and cardiovascular disease. As Nephrologists in Utah, we care for
patients with all types of kidney disease. We also specialize in correcting
electrolyte abnormalities, difficult-to-control hypertension, kidney stone
prevention, and more.
Kidney disease is complicated, but treating it with an experienced team
can prolong kidney life and enhance quality of life for patients.

Renal Replacement Therapy at Ogden Clinic
Our number one goal is to help our patients thrive for as long as possible
with healthy kidney function. Sometimes it becomes necessary to pursue
renal replacement options. Understanding that this is a difficult diagnosis
requiring several choices, our doctors provide compassionate and comprehensive
training to help you make the best decisions for your care.
What are my options?
Dialysis is not the only option when kidney function declines. When renal
replacement therapy is necessary, one option is kidney transplant for
eligible patients. We are well versed with management of pre- and post-
kidney transplant care.
When kidney transplant is not an option, we will work with you on a comprehensive
plan for dialysis treatment. We are trained to manage dialysis at home
or in a dialysis center which we'll coordinate for you. Our providers
will continue to manage your care during your entire time on dialysis
should this be your choice.
